In order to improve the safety level of China’s gases industry, strengthen new quality productive forces in the safety field, and enable the safety and sustainable high-quality development of China’s gases industry, on October 15, China Industrial Gases Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as CIGIA) held a preparatory meeting of the Gases Safety Branch of CIGIA at Sinosteel Wuhan Safety & Environmental Protection Research Institute Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Sinosteel Safety and Environmental Research Institute). The meeting was chaired by Pu Chungan, Executive Vice President of CIGIA, and more than 40 experts, scholars and corporate representatives from the gases industry attended the meeting.

Pu Chungan, executive vice president of CIGIA, pointed out that safety comes first. Without safety, nothing else can be discussed. Enterprises must produce under the premise of safety. Pu Chungan emphasized that in order to further implement the spirit of the Society Work Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Ministry of Civil Affairs to serve member enterprises and promote high-quality development, CIGIA Council reviewed and approved the 12th Council of the 9th Session on May 28 this year after the application of Sinosteel Safety and Environmental Research Institute. In this way, Sinosteel Safety and Environmental Research Institute's 65 years of safety work experience and the institute's talent and technical advantages can be fully utilized to better serve the country, the industry, and member enterprises.

Wu Qibing, secretary of the Party Committee, chairman, and president of Sinosteel Safety and Environmental Research Institute, delivered a speech at the meeting. He said that holding a preparatory meeting for the Gases Safety Branch to discuss the safety development of the gases industry is a concrete measure to implement President Xi Jinping's important discourses and important instructions on safety development.

Wu Qibing pointed out that as a scientific research institute with 65-year history, Sinosteel Safety and Environmental Research Institute will give full play to the platform and bridge role of the Gases Safety Branch in the future, actively carry out technical exchanges and cooperation domestically and globally, jointly promote the safe development of the gases industry, improve the safety management level of gases production enterprises, and improve safety performance. Let the Gases Safety Branch become the strongest think tank for safety management in the domestic gases industry and an important carrier for technical exchanges on safety management among gases production enterprises.

At the meeting, Zhan Zhifa, general manager of Sinosteel Wuhan Sepri Green Century Safety Management & Consultancy Co., Ltd. and the proposed secretary general of the branch, gave a detailed introduction to the preparation work of the Gases Safety Branch. Professor Liu Lingyan of Sinosteel Wuhan Sepri Green Century Safety Management & Consultancy Co., Ltd. gave a keynote report on the current domestic and international gases safety situation, "The Current Situation and Analysis of Safety Development in China's Gases Industry".

Leaders and experts in charge of safety from major domestic gases companies such as Baowu Energy, Hangzhou Oxygen Plant Group, Guangzhou Guanggang Gas & Energ, Heyuan Gas, Qinfeng Gas, Beijing Sinoscience Fullcryo Technology, Shougang Gas, Hansteel Special Gas, Sichuan Air Separation, Wuhan Iron and Steel Gas, Laiwu Gas, Haichang Gas, SCGC, MCC Huatian Engineering & Technology, Hangzhou Advanced Control Engineering, and Zhejiang Century Fluid Control Equipment made speeches at the meeting, and put forward valuable suggestions and opinions on the current safety status of the gases industry, the construction of the expert team of the Gases Safety Branch, the organization and participation in the compilation of group standards, industry standards, and China national standards, the collection and sharing of safety incidents or accidents, the organization of safety accident investigation and analysis, and the holding of safety technology exchange seminars, etc.

Finally, Wu Qibing, the proposed president of the branch, made a summary speech for the meeting and affirmed the valuable opinions put forward by the guests for the development of the branch. He said that in the future, under the leadership of CIGIA, the Gases Safety Branch will do its best to provide relevant services to all members and provide more powerful technical support and service guarantees for the safe development of domestic gases industry.

The convening of this meeting provides important support and direction for the development of the Gases Safety Branch. In the future, the Gases Safety Branch of CIGIA will work with entrepreneurs, leaders, experts and scholars in China’s gases industry and production safety field to conduct in-depth discussions on the research and improvement of China's gases safety technology, strengthen gases industry safety standards, and promote the research and development of gases safety.
